New Delhi. The level of air pollution in Delhi-NCR seems to be deteriorating once again. The Delhi government has become serious about this from now on. To deal with the problem of air pollution, the Delhi government is trying to complete the work of the smog tower being installed in Connaught Place as soon as possible.
The work of the country’s first smog tower, being installed at a cost of Rs 20 crore to purify the polluted air, will be completed by August 15. Its results will be studied by experts. The smog tower will draw the polluted air from above and purify the air and release it at a height of 10 meters.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai also took stock of this smog tower being set up at Connaught Place on Baba Kharag Singh Marg today. The Environment Minister said that IIT Mumbai, NBCC and Tata Projects are working jointly with DPCC to build the smog tower. If this first pilot project is successful, then more such smog towers will be installed in Delhi.
Rai told the media that under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, work is being done on a war footing for a 10-point action plan against pollution inside Delhi. This includes anti dust campaign, electric vehicle policy to control vehicular pollution, campaign to bring electric buses inside Delhi etc. Similarly, use of bio decomposer to deal with the problem of stubble and pollution of fuel inside Delhi. Change work in progress. Also, tree plantation is being done on a large scale inside Delhi. In this way, the Delhi government is working continuously in Delhi against pollution.
The Environment Minister said that due to the Corona period, there was a slight slowdown in the construction work of the Smog Tower. But now its work is being accelerated. If this first pilot project inside Delhi is successful, then such smog towers will be installed in other places inside Delhi also.
The height of this smog tower, being built at a cost of about Rs 20 crore, is about 25 meters and will have a perimeter of 40×40 square meters. This smog tower will purify one thousand cubic meters of air per second and take it out.
Rai said that this type of smog tower has been installed in China in the world. But there is a slight difference between the technology of China and the technology of this smog tower of ours. American technology is being used in the smog tower that we are installing. The smog tower installed in China draws air from below and leaves it from above. Whereas in the smog tower we are installing, the process of drawing air is reversed. It will draw the polluted air from above and release it below after purifying the air. It has 40 fans all around, which will purify the air and release it at a height of 10 meters.
It is estimated that its effect will be up to one square kilometer, so that the PM-2.5 and PM-10 which is the polluted air inside the air, can be cleaned. This is a big project of Delhi government. We hope that this project will be successful. Efforts are to be made to install it by 15th August and after 15th August we will start it.
