West Bengal Latest news: The officer said that in the statement given to the police, the complainant alleged that Bera took two lakh rupees in exchange for getting him a job around July-September 2019. This amount was taken in a flat of Saha Institute of Atomic Physics Cooperative Housing Society located on Maniktola Road.

Kolkata. A close aide of BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the government job scam case. Based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Kalyan Garh at Maniktala police station, the police arrested the accused Rakhal Bera from outside his residence in Kolkata on Saturday.

According to the complaint, Bera and his associates collected huge sums of money from people on the pretext of getting them Group-D category jobs in the state’s irrigation department. In the statement given to the police, the complainant alleged that Bera took two lakh rupees in lieu of getting him a job around July-September 2019, the official said. This amount was taken in a flat of Saha Institute of Atomic Physics Cooperative Housing Society located on Maniktola Road.

Despite taking money, the promise of getting a job was not fulfilled

The complainant alleged that despite giving the amount, the promise of getting a job in the department was not fulfilled. Bera is said to be a close aide of BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, who was the Minister of Irrigation Department in the then Trinamool Congress government.

The officer said that a case has been registered against Bera in other sections including criminal conspiracy, cheating. He said Bera was produced before a city court from where the accused was sent to police remand till June 12.
