New Delhi. The central government has justified its vaccine policy in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court. The central government says that the price of the vaccine and the procedure for giving the vaccine has been very thoughtfully made and the Supreme Court should not interfere in it. However, the matter could not be heard on Monday as the Central Government’s affidavit was submitted late on Sunday and the judges did not get a chance to read it. Now the matter will be heard on Thursday.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the central government why the price of the vaccine is different for the central and state governments. Also, it was also asked that if poor people cannot register for the vaccine online, then how will they get the vaccine. The court asked the central government to reconsider its vaccine policy, but the central government has said in its affidavit that there is no deficiency in the policy of the government.
The central government has said that the price of the vaccine will not have any effect on the general public because all the state governments have announced to give free vaccine to the people. In fact, the Supreme Court had asked the central government that both the companies making the vaccine are giving the vaccine to the central government at a lower price, while the same vaccine is being sold to the state government at a higher price.
In response to this, the central government has said in its affidavit that the center is buying a large number of vaccines, so they are getting the vaccine at a lower price, but according to the policy of the Center, every state will sell the vaccine at the same price. It will not happen that a state gets more vaccines and others at a lower cost.
According to the Center, at what cost the vaccine is being given to the center or the state, it will not have any effect on the general public because all the state governments have announced to provide free vaccine to the people. Also, in the affidavit it has been said that half of the vaccine quota allotted to the states will have to be given to private companies or private hospitals. Those who will be able to pay that price will get vaccinated in private hospital. This will reduce the burden on the state government.
The central government has argued that the companies making the vaccine have taken the risk of investing money in making the vaccine, so this will have to be taken care of in fixing the price. The matter will now be heard on Thursday when the state governments will also present their side.
