The recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission in Punjab are again in cold storage.
The commission has recommended a more than double increase in the salary of government employees. Along with this, it has also been recommended to increase the minimum salary from Rs 6950 to Rs 18000 per month.
Chandigarh. The matter of implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission of Punjab Government seems to be in cold storage once again. The government had decided to implement it from July 1, but by issuing a notification, the government has extended this period till August 31. The commission has recommended a more than double increase in the salary of government employees. Along with this, it has also been recommended to increase the minimum salary from Rs 6950 to Rs 18000 per month.
Earlier, in continuation of the notification issued on 1 April, the tenure of the Sixth Pay Commission was extended till 31 May. Although it was announced by the Chief Minister at that time that the decision to implement the recommendations of the commission would be taken in the cabinet meeting in the last week of May, but no such proposal has come in the cabinet meeting held last week.

The average expansion in salaries and pensions of employees is likely to be close to 20 per cent. There is an increase of 2.59 times in the salaries as compared to the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission. According to the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, along with rationalization in some allowances, it is proposed to increase the big allowances by one and a half to double.

Report sent to finance department for study
The report, which was recently submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, has been sent to the Finance Department on May 6 for study and also directed that it will be presented in the cabinet this month for further action.
