Maratha Community Reservation: Minister in the state and NCP leader Nawab Malik has said that the state government has decided to help the Maratha community who are not included in any other reservation category.
Mumbai. The Maharashtra government has decided to give reservation to the economically weaker people of the Maratha community. According to the new order issued by the state government, the Maratha community has become involved in the economic vicar section i.e. EWS. After this, people involved in the community will get 10 percent reservation in government jobs and education.
The General Administration Department (GAD) in Mumbai has issued this order in Mumbai. Under the new order, members of the Maratha community will be able to get benefits within 10 percent in government jobs and education under the EWS reservation. Under this, a person who fulfills the conditions of EWS quota, who is not included in any other reservation category, will get the benefit of reservation.
According to India Today, this EWS quota will be applicable to the community between the judgment from the Supreme Court, which came from 9 September 2020 to 5 May this year. At the same time, the EWS quota will apply to those SEBC candidates whose appointments were already stuck before the interim ban. At present, the 10 per cent EWS quota continues for the society, which is not included in any other type of reservation.

Under this, the poor class is reserved for jobs and education in the general category. As per the order issued by the government, the Maratha community declared as Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) will be able to avail the 10 per cent EWS quota.
Nawab Malik, the minister and NCP leader in the state, has said that the state government has decided to help such Maratha community who are not included in any other reservation category. Till now the situation was not clear regarding this reservation. Malik said, ‘Communities with less than Rs 8 lakh annual income will be eligible for EWS quota.’
