Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday welcomed the central government’s decision to cancel class 12 CBSE board exams across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A statement issued by the state’s communication department here said that Thackeray has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this decision. This decision has been taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Prime Minister said that the decision has been taken keeping in view the interests of the students and the concerns prevailing among the students, their parents and teachers. CBSE had announced the cancellation of 10th exams and postponement of 12th exams on April 14 due to the increase in the cases of corona virus infection.
The government issued a statement saying that like last year, if some students wish to take the examination, then such an option will be provided to them by CBSE if the situation becomes favorable. In view of the uncertain circumstances due to Kovid and the feedback received from the stakeholders, it has been decided that class 12 board examination will not be conducted this year. CBSE will take steps to compile the results of class 12 students as per well defined objective criteria in a time bound manner.
Kejriwal also welcomed the decision
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that I am glad that the class 12 board exam has been cancelled. This is a big relief. Everyone was worried about the health of the students. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that I am very happy that the endless class 12th class of 1.5 crore children of the country will finally end now. The insistence on conducting the examination was putting a lot of pressure on the safety of the children.
