In the notification, the speed limit has been fixed for different roads and road sections for 19 categories. The maximum speed limit has been set at 70 kilometers per hour.

How much should this speed limit be kept under the Delhi Police Act? An amendment has been made in this regard. The speed limit on major roads and road stretches of Delhi was last revised in 2011. After which the maximum speed limit for some roads was revised year after year in 2017 and 2019 if needed. Now once again on June 8, 2021, a notification has been issued and the maximum speed limit has been fixed for different categories of vehicles on different roads in kilometers per hour.

The notification issued regarding the maximum speed limit for vehicles on the roads of Delhi has been issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic (Modernisation), Delhi Satyavan Gautam and the order of this notification has been implemented in Delhi with immediate effect.

In the new notification on the roads of Delhi, the maximum speed limit has been fixed at 40 per kilometer on the roads and routes prescribed in the notification for all transport vehicles, Gramin Sewa, TSR, Fatafat Sewa, Battery Cycle and N category vehicles. But this speed limit has been fixed at 30 kmph on all residential areas, all minor roads inside commercial markets and service roads and service lanes. Category N vehicles include motor vehicles that are used for the carriage of goods.

In the new notification, a separate maximum speed limit per kilometer has also been set for two-wheelers. The speed limit of two wheelers has been fixed at a maximum of 50 and 60 kilometers per hour for a total of 18 road and road sections. But this vehicle will be able to run at a speed of only 30 kmph on all residential areas, all minor roads inside commercial markets and service roads and service lanes.
