IPL 2021, DC vs KKR: The 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In this match, with the help of opener Prithvi Saw’s innings of 82 runs in 41 balls, Delhi Capitals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets.
Delhi achieved the easy target of 155 runs by losing three wickets with 21 balls to spare. Saw scored 82 off 41 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. He shared 132 runs for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan to ensure Delhi’s victory. Playing well, Dhawan scored 46 runs in 47 balls with the help of four fours and a six. Pat Cummins broke the partnership by dismissing him in the 14th over.
Cummins also sent Saav and Rishabh Pant (16) to the pavilion. Earlier, Andre Russell’s unbeaten 45 off 27 balls helped Kolkata Knight Riders recover from the failure of the top and middle order and scored 154 runs for six wickets. KKR, which was sent for batting first, had a bad start and in the fourth over, opener Nitish Rana (15) was sent to the pavilion by Akshar Patel.
After this, Shubhaman Gill and Rahul Tripathi tried to fight for a while but Marcus Stoinis broke the partnership by dismissing Tripathi in the tenth over. Tripathi was out for 19 runs and at that time 69 runs were hanging on the score board. Lalit Yadav, playing in place of injured Amit Mishra, dismissed KKR captain Eoin Morgan without opening an account. At the other end, Gill seemed full of confidence who hit a few fours to Ishant Sharma and Akshar.
Morgan and Sunil Narine were out without opening an account within three balls, which prevented KKR from getting a big score. Yadav took both the wickets. KKR’s score was 69 for one in the 10th over which became 75 for four in the 11th over.
Morgan caught Steve Smith on long off while Narayan was bowled. Gill, who has not scored a single half-century in seven innings so far this season, fell victim to Awesh Khan by scoring 43 runs. Russell scored an unbeaten 45 off 27 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes in the last overs. After this victory, Delhi reached the second position in the table with ten points in seven matches while KKR is in the fifth position with four points in the same number of matches.
