New Zealand’s 30-year-old bowler Tim Southee has 308 wickets in 78 Test matches. Southee, who took 6 wickets against England in the first innings of the Lord’s Test, has surpassed Ishant Sharma and Sir Richard Hadlee.
New Delhi. Veteran New Zealand pacer Tim Southee said that his team has not given up hope of winning the first Test against England despite rain on the third day. Saudi took six wickets for 43 runs as New Zealand bowled England out for 275 in the first innings. With this, Saudi left behind Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma. Saudi also broke the record of great bowler Sir Richard Hadlee.
Tim Southee overtakes Ishant Sharma
This is the 78th Test for 30-year-old Tim Southee. He has taken 308 wickets so far. Taking six wickets in the first innings, this bowler went ahead of Ishant Sharma (303 wickets in 101 Tests) and Fred Truman (307 wickets in 67 Tests). Saudi is the third bowler for New Zealand to take more than 300 wickets after Sir Richard Hadlee (431 wickets) and Daniel Vettori (362 wickets).
Sir Richard Hadley left behindSaudi has so far taken 591 wickets in 303 international matches. This bowler surpassed Hadlee who has taken 589 wickets in 201 matches. Daniel Vettori has taken the most wickets for New Zealand. This former spinner has 705 wickets in 442 matches.
Saudi hopes to win Lord’s Test
